Wisdom from Others & Breakfast Flatbread

Philippians 3:17 (tpt)

My beloved friends, imitate my walk with God and follow all those who walk according to the way of life we modeled before you.

I love spending time in the Word, but there are some days that I want it to be easier – I know, I know. A statement that’s totally worthy of judgement. But reading the Bible can feel like a lot of work sometimes.

I don’t think that God designed for or desired it to be that way, but often times, it just requires more focus and thinking then I’m willing or able to give. The good news is that God has given His followers the ability to spread His truth and be a voice for Him.

According to Romans 12:6-8, we’re all given different gifts to assist others. “We all have different gifts. Each gift came because of the grace God gave us. Whoever has the gift of prophecy should use that gift in a way that fits the kind of faith they have. Whoever has the gift of serving should serve. Whoever has the gift of teaching should teach. Whoever has the gift of comforting others should do that. Whoever has the gift of giving to help others should give generously. Whoever has the gift of leading should work hard at it. Whoever has the gift of showing kindness to others should do it gladly (ERV).”

In no way should the voice of humans take precedent over or attempt to replace God’s voice, but the fellowship of other believers can aid in our journey. We can often experience the heart of God through others.

If you’re ever having a hard time understanding God’s words, or struggling to connect with Him, it’s okay to look for His reflection in the words, thoughts, and actions of those that He’s strategically placed in your life – along with continuing to spend time in His Word and seeking Him in prayer. We were never meant to take this journey alone, so don’t be afraid to pursue the wisdom that God’s already given to others.

There are some really excellent books that have made a big impact in my life at just the right moments; the moments I really needed a source of guidance or some good judgement in my life. Below are just a few of those books. I pray that God will use them to speak to you and inspire you the way that they did for me.

Tips & Tools

Note: I had a little mishap with the products I had available in my kitchen while making this recipe. While the recipe calls for a plain wrap and spinach cooked with the eggs, I used a spinach tortilla from Trader Joes, and opted to leave the actual spinach out. You can always customize these recipes to fit your taste and what you might already have available in your kitchen! Nutrition info is calculated using the recipe as listed. Bacon is calculated as 1 strip of Hormel Black Label Lower Sodium Bacon.
