Your Value & Pumpkin Blueberry Coconut Oats

John 17:23 (icb)

I will be in them and you will be in me. So they will be completely one. Then the world will know that you sent me. And the world will know that you loved these people the same as you loved me.

Value is a funny thing, isn’t it? It’s so subjective. I’ll spend everything in m savings to book a flight, because I find a lot of value in travel. But my husband is content to invest a little extra in his 401K because he sees value in saving for the future.

Some people will buy every new iPhone without batting an eye while others are still using a phone that’s 5 generations old. Value is often assigned by what others are willing to pay for it; what they feel it’s worth.

For many of us, that’s where the problem lies. At some point, someone, or many someones, have tried to put a value on you and I. And for many of us, we were greatly undervalued. We were made to believe that our worth was much less than it actually is. But today, we have the opportunity to see that the person, or people, who attempted to put that value on us was never meant to be our appraiser.

In his book, “Drawing Near”, John Bevere says the following: “What is our value to God? It is there we find our true value. God is the one who sets the standard for worth in this universe, not men (pg 17).”

He goes on to talk about the scripture listed above. “If we would have been worth one cent less to God than the value of Jesus Himself, the Father would never have given Him.”

Did you read that correctly? Did you have a chance to really digest those words? Read it again. I am worth the same as Jesus. You hold the same value as Jesus. The One who determines value and worth paid for us; for you and for me, with Him.

Have you previously allowed someone besides God to assign your value? If so, what changes do you need to make in your life now that you know your true value?

Ask the Lord to help you see and understand your true value; the one given by Him.
