The Final Result & Lemon Almond Loaf

1 Peter 1:8-9 (nirv)

Even though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not see him now, you believe in him. You are filled with a glorious joy that can’t be put into words. You are receiving the salvation of your souls. This salvation is the final result of your faith.

For years, I’ve been worried about the lack of Christian joy that I feel. I’ve wondered what’s wrong with me. I’ve blamed myself for not being enough or doing enough. I’ve witnessed people in the church or on social media share about their joy, regardless of the awful circumstances they’ve been given.

Today, as I write this, I want you to know that if you feel this way, you’re not alone. And you’re not broken. In fact, you’re simply still being molded. Faith isn’t a one time event. Making a commitment to Christ is, but your journey is only just getting started. This journey isn’t one that you get to pace. But rest assured, the beginning and the middle are just as important as the end. Throughout this time. God is helping each of us build faith. He’s teaching trust. He knows what you we need, and He’s leading us down the path to find it.

The final result of your faith is the salvation of your soul, which will fill you with His glorious joy. Until then, trust in Him. His timing, His lessons, His plans. And while you’re not feeling joyful, grab His hand. When it’s really hard, take one small step closer. Each and every time you move closer to Him, He moves closer to you.

Here’s a bit of a different journaling exercise than normal: later tonight, return to your journal and write about how God answered your morning prayer.

Ask the Lord to strengthen your faith in one small way, and believe that He will.
