John 5:26 (erv)
Life comes from the Father himself. So the Father has also allowed the Son to give life.
Read
God is self-sufficient. He has no needs. He’s the Creator of all, and the giver of life. His needs are met through Himself. Do you know what that means for us? Everything He does is in our best interest, and it’s selfless.
Think of a typical parent-child relationship: a child has needs that must be met – food, water, love, interaction. However, the parent doesn’t rely on the child to meet any of their own needs. They get to thoroughly enjoy the relationship for what it is. That’s how God’s relationship is with us. Because He relies on us for nothing, He never acts from a place of self-serving.
If you look around at your relationships, even the very best ones have at least a hint of self-seeking in them. It’s human nature. But God isn’t human, therefore, we can look at Him as Someone, the only One, who we can fully lean on and trust 100% because we know that everything He does doesn’t affect His wellbeing or change His outcome.
