I have been obsessed with buffalo sauce lately. That statement is crazier than it sounds, because I hate spicy food. Some of you are probably laughing at me for calling buffalo sauce spicy, but I usually stray away from anything that’s spicier than the salsa that says “family” on it.
For whatever reason, buffalo sauce is my jam right now, and since it’s grilling season, I decided to put together a buffalo burger. Buffalo like the sauce, not the animal, and since buffalo sauce didn’t sound very good on beef, I decided to create a healthier take on a buffalo chicken sandwich (burger).
On a scale of 1-obsessive, this recipe ranks pretty low as far as ingredients go. I’m one of those crazy people who tries to avoid nearly everything that’s heavily processed, and there’s a few ingredients in this one that don’t necessarily have my stamp of “eat this every day” but overall, I think we’re doing okay.
This greek yogurt dip mix can probably be left out if it’s not easily accessible or filled with too many things you can’t pronounce. I wasn’t sure what to expect with it, so I intentionally only added a small amount, and I’m not sure it made a huge difference either way.
I love these little sandwich slims for smarter choices – they are made by Ozery Bakery and found at Whole Foods and Fresh Thyme grocery stores. Super yum, clean ingredients, and still allow you to get the whole “burger experience”.
Once your sandwich is prepared, you can even drizzle a little additional buffalo sauce across the top, if you’re feeling really lukewarm 😉 Enjoy!
