Psalm 27:3 (nirv)
I love these words that David speaks in the midst of his trials and struggles. And I would love to echo them during my own times of uncertainty. But the truth is that it doesn’t always feel this way. I don’t always immediately run to God. I don’t always maintain an unwavering trust in Him.
Maybe you’re there too; in that place that you want to be strong, to trust the Lord, to run to Him in the face of danger… but you just can’t. Not yet. I want to reassure you that God isn’t finished working in you yet. I think it’s really easy to compare ourselves to other Christians.
When it comes to the examples that God laid out for us in the Bible, it’s so important to understand that they aren’t meant to be used as measuring sticks. They’re meant to inspire us, to show us what’s possible, and to give us a peek into the incredible miracles that God has performed in the lives of others. But not to feel shame about where we’re at on our own journey.
God is using all of the struggles, even the ones that rocked your faith and broke your trust to build a lifelong relationship. Every step is growth; God doesn’t need us to give him miles, an inch is more than enough for Him. In time, the right time – HIS time – you’ll be where you should be. And right now, where you’re at is okay too.
