Loving Others Well & Breakfast Tacos

James 3:9 (erv)

We use our tongues to praise our Lord and Father, but then we curse people who were created in God’s likeness.

There’s not a single person walking the planet that God doesn’t love. To take it further, He loves each of us the same; whole-heartedly, unconditionally, and immeasurably. We know that we’re flawed; we look in the mirror and see a sinner that’s been saved by grace. Yet, we look around us at others and often don’t see them as deserving the same grace.

It’s difficult for us as humans to accept each other as we are, but it’s not at all difficult for our God to accept us. In order for us to start loving others well, we have to view ourselves as the receivers of grace, and only the secondary givers of it. That grace can be passed along because we know we’ve received it without earning it, deserving it, or even asking for it sometimes.

Christians; followers of Christ. That’s what we are. And God doesn’t call us to be perfect, but I believe that He asks us to recognize that we’re His ambassadors. To many, our actions represent Him. There’s a famous quote that says “you might be the only Bible some people read.”

Our words, our tongues, have power. They can either spread love and share the truth or they can cause division and mistrust. Before I speak, I continue to ask myself if I’m talking about or to someone with the same respect that God would speak to them with. Is His love being poured out to them through my words? The answer isn’t always yes, but my faith in God’s promise to continue His work in me keeps me moving in the right direction.

Are there are areas in your life that you struggle to pass along the same grace that’s been given to you to others?

For the ability to love others well.
