Loved Deeply & Blueberry Coffee Cake

Ephesians 2:4-5 (nirv)

But God loves us deeply. He is full of mercy. So he gave us new life because of what Christ has done. He gave us life even when we were dead in sin. God’s grace has saved you.

Today’s devotional is a simple and to-the-point reminder in truth, in case you need it, because I know that I often do.

Sometimes, life can really leave me feeling down. And as I’m battling one struggle after another, I begin to doubt God’s love. I question His goodness. I wonder if all of it’s true; if any of it’s true. My mind begins to believe the lies and it takes a simple yet powerful verse like this one to pull me back in and adjust my heart.

Deeply: it’s such a descriptive word. I’ve been married for 8 years, I have wonderful parents, and great friends – but I don’t think I’d use the term “loved deeply” about any of the relationships in my life. If God didn’t use His Word to tell me that that’s how He feels about me, I don’t think I’d use that term at all.

It’s an intense kind of love – almost to the point where it’s scary. Honestly, I’m not sure I can easily accept the truth that I’m loved deeply. I think it’s one of those overwhelming feelings that leaves me unsure of how to act or what to say. But the best part is that God’s love isn’t dependent on my actions or my response to Him. So I continue to make messes and create small fires, and He continues to love me deeply.

He loves you that way too, friend. No matter what you’ve done or what you’re doing. Whether you love Him back or not. If you question His goodness, doubt His ways, or pull away – His love for you does not change.

Take some time today to sit in the truth about God’s love for you. As you think about what it means to be loved deeply, write down any thoughts or feelings you have in your journal.

For any feelings of doubt to be replaced with God’s love, mercy, and acceptance of you.
