Glorifying God & Chips & Dip

Isaiah 43:7 (nirv)

Bring back everyone who belongs to me. I created them to bring glory to me. I formed them and made them.

I exhaust a lot of energy worrying about my purpose. Countless hours have been spent trying to figure out what I was made for. Countless tears of frustration have been cried over feeling insignificant. Have you ever wondered why you’re even here; what you were made for? Me too.

God graciously laid out the answer in scripture for us. The closer I get to God, the more I’ve come to understand that He knows exactly what His creation thinks about, worries about, and wonders. We were created to glorify God – that’s pretty simple, isn’t it? All the time spent wondering and wandering, reading self-help books and meditating, attending conferences and seminars – the answer is in the same place it’s been for thousands of years; the Word.

Don’t get me wrong, I love a good self-help book and a sold out conference on living your best life just as much as the next girl; but I think we tend to overcomplicate and overthink things when they seem too easy. Can it really be possible that God created us to simply just exist? That our existence makes Him happy?

It’s true. God created the first humans, and every one thereafter because of who He is. Everywhere you look and everything you see has been created by God. The beautiful sunsets, the endless oceans, and the highest mountain tops are all a result of God’s spectacular work. It’s impossible to impress or entertain the Creator. We weren’t made for that, yet so many of us are living like we’re just one accolade away from it.

Glorifying God isn’t a skill or a talent; it’s our purpose for existence. There are 7,500 different types of apples in the world. Each apple doesn’t work to be special and unique; it’s special and unique because that’s how God designed it. And the fact that each of those 7,500 types of apples simply exists reminds us of God’s power, creativity, and attention to detail – it makes us think of who God is.

God says that He formed us and made us. The characteristics, qualities, and traits that God gave you bring Him glory. When you do anything at all, you’re only able to do that thing because God gave you that ability. That’s glorifying Him. Your existence is so much greater than you’ve ever imagined because of Who made you.

What are some of the ways you feel insignificant? Does this verse change your perspective about your significance and purpose?

For peace and contentment as you simply exist, bringing glory to God.

Tips & Tools

If you don’t have time to use the homemade waffle batter recipe, you can substitute it for any pre-made mix that you want. I’ve shared about Birch Benders a few times, and that’s because it’s my absolute favorite mix if I’m not using homemade.
