1 Peter 5:6-7 (easy)
Remember that God is strong and powerful. So, think about yourselves as small in front of him. Then he will lift you up to a good place at the right time. If you have any kind of trouble in your mind, give it to God. God has promised to take care of you.

I’m realizing that the more I try to take control of things, the more my experiences aren’t satisfying, fulfilling, or rewarding. God has used this process of leaving Texas to show me just how good He is, and how He provides so much joy in my life without any of my own doing.
Over the last few weeks, we’ve been trying to do some of the things we’ve enjoyed here in Dallas before we leave. 2 weeks ago, we randomly ended up at our favorite pizza place and everything was perfect. If we’d left it at that, we would have left with the best experience. But, this past weekend, we decided we needed one more hoorah, and we went back. This time, the pizza was burnt. The dough wasn’t as soft. The service wasn’t as good.
It seems like a silly example, but it’s really made me think about how God fills our lives with good things organically. We don’t have to go chasing down things and experiences to produce or create a sense of joy, because it almost always comes up short. And we’re left feeling worse, right? Unmet expectations = the worst.
But when we just show up to life with an open heart, an open mind, and our eyes fixed on Jesus, we get the privilege of witnessing all the good that God does in us, through us, and for us.
Write
Can you think of any situations in your life that you’ve put pressure or expectations on? How can you turn those over to God and simply take part in the goodness that He produces in your life?
Pray
For eyes that see the goodness and a heart that finds the joy in God’s works.
