Be Fully You & Breakfast Lasagna

Isaiah 58:11 (erv)

The Lord will always lead you and satisfy your needs in dry lands. He will give strength to your bones. You will be like a garden that has plenty of water, like a spring that never goes dry.

Do you ever find yourself wondering how you measure up to other believers in the eyes of God? So often, I think to myself, “How can He possibly love me, when others are doing it so much better?” It’s easy to get discouraged when we view God through human eyes. But the truth is that going unnoticed or being unloved by God is not something we need to worry about, because He created us to be fully ourselves, and has committed to us throughout this journey of becoming exactly who we were made to be.

The following devotional is found in the Bible App and written by Gather Ministries. It’s called “Embrace Who You Are: Loving How God Made You” and it’s the writing from day 3. I love this plan because it’s written from the perspective of God, and something about reading this words and imaging them coming from the Lord really provides a new perspective.

“You Are the Only One

My darling, you don’t have to worry about how to distinguish yourself, with Me. You don’t have to worry about standing out, being noticed. You don’t have to try so hard. I see you. You can’t make Me love you more.

It is true that things hold you back from receiving my love for you. You hold on so tightly, too tightly to fear. You think too much about figuring out what you don’t know. You stop seeing what is right in front of you, what I’ve given you to do, to live out, to experience during this moment.

This day, this gift right here. Open up the gift, my daughter. The gift of this moment with Me.

I love to guide you, to show you bits of what is ahead. I tell you what you need to know. I whisper who you are into your heart, and you rise up, delighted in and true—truly you—when you let go of trying to be like her . . . or like her, over there. Be fully you, whom I’ve created you to be.

I put people around you to guide you, shepherd you towards Me. And I ask you to shepherd children to Me, too. I don’t leave you alone, for I have good plans for you. Plans for you unlike any other.

You are unlike anyone else, my daughter. See what’s around you. Know I see you. Live like you know who you are.”

What is keeping you from living like you know who you really are? Fear? Guilt? Doubt? Write about it in your journal today.

Share those things you wrote in your journal with the Lord, and ask Him to remove them from your heart as He replaces them with security and strength in Him.
