Recently, I’ve been feeling really self-conscious when I saw my not-so-pearly-whites in the mirror or in photos. I drink a lot of colorful drinks; coffee, wine, and my favorite bright-yellow pre-workout drink. And I love them all – except for one common side-effect. The stains they leave on my teeth.
I knew it was time to start a whitening regimen; but which one? There are so many options to choose from, and it’s been awhile since I’ve explored them. In the past, I’ve used the whitening strips, and while I did notice some whitening, I also experienced a lot of sensitivity, and I didn’t feel that my results lasted much longer than the strips did.
So, when it came time to select a whitening method, I opted for something different this time around; at home whitening trays, provided by Smile Brilliant. These trays were custom-made for me, so they fit my teeth perfectly. I didn’t have to worry about them sliding around, and getting the whitener everywhere in the process, including all over my gums, which leads to increased sensitivity.
All whiteners have the possibility of causing sensitivity, but Smile Brilliant’s whitening system does an incredible job of aiding in and eliminating some of it! Because the trays fit my teeth correctly, the whitening gel stays in place. They also provided me with a few syringes of desensitizing gel that I use immediately after a whitening session, and it works wonders!
The process was seamless from start to finish. I received a package with all of my supplies, including the mold used to create my trays. My initial package also included a pre-paid return envelope that I could use to send my molds back in, as well as a questionnaire to be sure they understood all of my important dental and whitening history.
It took about 6 minutes to create my molds, and then I dropped them in the mail. About a week later, another package arrived containing my custom trays, and I was ready to go! Since I’ve experienced sensitivity from whitening in the past, I started off slow; 45 minutes per day, followed by 20 minutes of using the desensitizing gel. After about a week, I increased my usage to 90 minutes per day (the suggested whitening time is between 45 minutes and 3 hours daily). That seemed to be the sweet spot for me. I did that for a little over 2 weeks, and that’s what’s responsible for the results you see today.
I decided to use my whitening trays each day after breakfast, because that’s typically when I’m most focused on work, so the time flew by. Before I knew it, I finished my whitening, swapped it out for the desensitizing gel, and I was done for the day! I’m super excited that I saw such great results, and while I know the 2-3 week time frame is longer than some of the others advertised, I really feel like the outcome will be longer lasting, and I know that the process was more comfortable than ever before. Plus, I was able to remove years of stains in just a few weeks; not so bad if you ask me.
