Hosea 11:8 (easy)
Read
I’m not sure how many times I’ve said this throughout the course of this year, but this is one of my favorite verses of all time. Honestly, I’m not even sure who God is talking about in half of this verse, but the second half, ohhhh it really gets me.
I’ve noticed that the verses I’m really drawn toward, the ones that stick with me and speak to me tend to be the verses that show the true essence of God’s heart. The very last line of this scripture sums up His love for us. “My love for you is too strong.”
At this point, God is beyond frustrated with humans and their behavior. He’s rescued and redeemed us so many times already, and we just kept messing up and moving further away from Him. God becomes angry and has a plan to destroy us. But as He talks about it, He just can’t do it.
Because His love for us is too strong.
Have you ever had something that’s frustrated you so much, made your life harder, yet when you look at it or think about all you can see and feel is love and compassion? For me, it’s my animals. For some of you, it might be your children. But no matter how strong that feeling of love is that washes over you, it pales in comparison to the way God feels about us; about you and me.
If you ever doubt His love, come back to this verse and remember that there’s nothing any of us can do to change His heart for us.
Write
Do you feel like there’s something you’ve done, said, or thought in that past that’s pushed God away or changed His heart for you? Write about it in your journal today. How does today’s scripture change your thoughts about that?
Pray
Thank God for being One of kindness, love, compassion, and forgiveness.
